D.W.I.F.I. (don’t worry i’ll fix it)

The series name derives its meaning from a childlike act of having broken something accidentally and responding in turn with the phrase “don’t worry i’ll fix it”. It is out of this innocent guilt, fear, and ingenuity that I processed and constructed these pieces.

Each of the works employed a discarded object or objects that were then altered and imbued with personal significance. In this, I departed from my usual practice of utilizing items that already contained the physical attributes needed to evoke an emotional response. These works stand in contrast to that methodology. The objects chosen had little to no mnemonic value on their own. It was only through a process of dissection, categorization, and physical manipulation I was able to inject emotional traits into said objects, constructing sculptures and assemblages that contain a newly activated importance.
